Building off existing activities like art classes and game days, the Upper Room Mission Society is excited to announce the introduction of yoga to our list of day programs.
“Providing our community members with a place to relieve stress and focus on themselves while in a safe environment is a primary focus for the mission,” says Colleen Johnston, community support team supervisor.
The goal of the new yoga day program is to help promote better mental and physical wellbeing while encouraging body positivity and mindfulness.
“We know that no two community members are exactly alike and that is why we are trying to introduce a number of day program options,” explained Johnston. “What is interesting for one person might not be something another is in to, but we will continue to develop programs that support our community and encourage inclusivity. We hope to introduce more programs like this in the weeks and months ahead.”
The yoga day program is free of charge and open to all community members with the first class being held June 27, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.
