New Beginnings at the Upper Room Mission

New beginnings at the Upper Room Mission

At the Upper Room Mission, we believe that every person deserves dignity, safety, and the chance to begin again. For 45 years, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside some of Vernon’s most vulnerable citizens—serving meals, providing care, and offering a place of belonging rooted in compassion.

Now, as we enter this next chapter in 2025, we are excited to share news of a new beginning—not just for our organization, but for the many individuals who will find hope within our walls.

A Shelter Built on Compassion

Our newly renovated 24-bed shelter is more than bricks and mortar. It represents a commitment to safety, stability, and transformation. Once at capacity, this space will provide up to 10,000 safe nights of sleep each year—a refuge for those who might otherwise face the uncertainty and hardship of life on the streets.

But the shelter is more than a bed. It’s a place where someone can take a deep breath, find rest, and begin to imagine a different future. Every night spent here is a step toward recovery, healing, and new beginnings.

Why Your Support Still Matters

The opening of this shelter is a milestone worth celebrating, but it’s also a reminder: our work is far from done. Poverty, homelessness, and addiction remain daily realities in Vernon. Meeting those challenges requires more than a building—it requires a community willing to come together with ongoing support, compassion, and resolve.

Every donation, every hour volunteered, and every act of kindness fuels this mission. Together, we can ensure that the shelter’s doors remain open and that every bed, every meal, and every moment of care is there for the people who need it most.

A New Chapter, Together

The Upper Room Mission’s story has always been one of community. As we celebrate this new beginning, we invite you to be part of it. Whether by giving, volunteering, or simply sharing the story of hope, your involvement helps transform lives.

The need continues, but so does the opportunity—to bring dignity, safety, and love into the lives of those who need it most.

Here’s to new beginnings. Here’s to building hope, together.
