Safe. Warm. Open 24/7.

A place of refuge when there’s nowhere else to turn.
Upper Room Mission Winter Shelter Program

Imagine suddenly finding yourself without a safe place to sleep — unsure where to go, cold, hungry, and afraid. For far too many in our community, this is a painful reality. According to the most recent Point-in-Time Homelessness Count, 199 people in Vernon are experiencing homelessness, with 85 living unsheltered lives — sleeping in tents, cars, or outside in the elements.

Emergencies don’t wait for morning. That’s why having a 24/7 emergency shelter matters so deeply.

At the Upper Room Mission, our shelter is more than a roof over someone’s head. It’s a lifeline — a safe and welcoming space where people can find warmth, rest, and compassionate care during one of the most difficult moments in their lives.

When temperatures drop and nights grow long, a shelter bed can mean the difference between safety and tragedy. Here, guests are met with dignity and kindness by staff who understand that every person has a story — and every story deserves hope.

Because of your generosity, starting November 1, our doors will remain open day and night throughout the winter months. You make it possible for people in crisis to receive immediate support, connect with vital resources, and begin taking steps toward stability and healing.

Your compassion keeps the lights on, the beds warm, and the welcome genuine.

This winter, you can help ensure no one is left out in the cold.
Give today to support the Upper Room Mission’s 24/7 emergency shelter — and be part of saving lives and restoring hope in our community.
