Getting Ready for Christmas at the Upper Room Mission

Christmas preparations are officially underway at the Mission! Our space is decorated, the Christmas tree is glowing, and our kitchen team is already hard at work preparing a special Christmas meal for our community.
This year’s Christmas Dinner will take place on Friday, December 20 at the Mission. We are so grateful for everyone who helps make this a warm and meaningful day for our guests.

A Christmas Gift for Every Guest
This year, every guest at our Christmas Dinner will receive a Christmas Gift filled with treats, essentials, and helpful gift cards—each one chosen with care, dignity, and love. These gifts remind our guests that they matter, that they are seen, and that they are part of a community that cares about them.
Winter Is Hard. Your Help Makes Christmas Possible.
This continues to be a very difficult time of year for many of our guests—especially those sleeping outside, in their vehicles, or staying in shelter. The temperatures are dropping quickly, and the need for warmth, care, and community is increasing every week.
This Christmas, will you help us bring comfort and hope?
There are several meaningful ways you can make a difference:
1. Support Our Hygiene Campaign
One of the most pressing needs we see every day is access to hygiene products. These are simple items that most of us use without thinking, but for someone living in poverty or homelessness, they can be life-changing.
This Christmas, please consider donating hygiene essentials—such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine products, and toothbrushes/toothpaste—to support our ongoing hygiene program.
2. Volunteer at Christmas
We welcome volunteers to help create a warm, joyful experience for our guests.
3. Make a Christmas or Year-End Donation
Your gift directly provides warm meals throughout winter.
Last year, we served 42,000 meals to people in need. Your generosity helps us continue serving every day—including Christmas Day and long after the holidays have passed.
A Christmas or year-end gift to the Mission will:
- provide a full Christmas meal to someone who needs it
- help keep our kitchen running
- support our shelter and outreach programs
- give hope through the coldest months of winter
As we approach the end of the year, your donation also has a meaningful financial impact. Every dollar goes directly toward caring for people who are hungry, cold, and without a safe place to call home.
Thank You for Bringing Hope This Christmas
Christmas reminds us that hope arrives in the coldest nights, and that community matters deeply. Thank you for caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our city.
